"Five Things you Need to Know This Weekend" is the weekend version of the Patch column "Five Things You Need to Know Today."  The weekend edition provides readers with essential information for both Saturday and Sunday.

1. Stoughton YMCA Ride for Strong Kids Spin-a-thon

The is holding a spin-a-thon on Saturday, March 24 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. to help support the branch’s annual campaign, which provides financial assistance for children and families in the community.

2. Hansen School Spring Carnival

This Saturday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the will be holding a Spring Carnival featuring games and activities, prizes, a food court, raffle items, a Patch photo booth, and more!

3. Sixth Annual Guns N’ Hoses Benefit Hockey Game

Saturday, March 24 at 5:20 p.m., The Stoughton Fire and Police Departments are set to face off in the Sixth Annual  Benefit Hockey Game.

The two teams will meet at the Asiaf Rink at Brockton High School, where the Fire Dept. hopes to  they earned a year ago.

The two departments will face off to raise money for Friends Of Stoughton Hockey (F.O.S.H.).

This year's Stoughton High alumni game also takes place at the Asiaf on March 24 following the conclusion of the Guns 'N Hoses game.

Admission to the Guns 'N Hoses game is free; donations are accepted at the door. A silent auction and raffle will also be held during the game. Doors open at 5 p.m.

4. Fundraiser at MAXX Training Center

Stoughton High Senior finished fourth in the heavyweight division at the New England High School wrestling championships this winter and has qualified for the National championships in Virginia.

Help him fundraise for this trip to Nationals at a fundraiser this Saturday, March 24 at 7 p.m. at on Rose St. There will be a $10 admission for a movie night there. 

All donations are tax deductible. Donations can be sent to Stoughton Boosters c/o MAXX Training Center, 49 Rose St., Stoughton.

5. Bye Bye Birdie

The located in Stoughton (on Monk St.) along with students from The Starline Academy for the Performing Arts will be presenting Bye Bye Birdie.

Bye Bye Birdie is America's Beloved Rock and Roll musical with a book by Michael Stewart, lyrics by Lee Adams, and music by Charles Strouse, who wrote the musical Annie.

Performances are scheduled on:

  • March 24, 30, 31 at 6:30 p.m.
  • March 25 and April 1 at 12:30 p.m.

The Paris Cabaret is located at 49 Monk St. off Rt. 138 in Stoughton. Please call 781-297-SHOW(7469) for dinner reservations as they are required.
