Gallery: Stoughton Fire, Police Departments Play in 6th Annual Guns ‘N Hoses Hockey Game
Stoughton Fire earned a 3-1 win over the Stoughton Police Saturday evening at the Asiaf Rink in Brockton in a charity hockey game to benefit the Friends of Stoughton Hockey organization.
After earning their in 2011, the proved it was not a fluke, beating the for the second straight year in the annual “Guns ‘N Hoses” Hockey game.
The Fire Department won this year’s charity hockey game, played Saturday night, March 24 at the Asiaf Arena in Brockton, by a score of 3-1. The game benefits the Friends of Stoughton Hockey (FOSH).
The Police Department won the first four games in this series, but after two-straight wins for the SFD, the police only hold a 4-2 game advantage in the six year history of the Guns ‘N Hoses event.

Buddy O’Neil of the SFD said his department’s two-game winning streak is “a little bit of redemption” after suffering four straight loses.
“We all like to win; we work hard all season,” O’Neil said. But he said the evening is “really about the fundraiser.”

The Guns ‘N Hoses game and the Stoughton High alumni game that followed helped to raise money for F.O.S.H.
F.O.S.H., a non-profit organization, helps to conduct a skill camp for high school players; they assist the Middle School hockey team; recognize all players from each team with a banquet and awards ceremony; organize an alumni game and gathering; and, most importantly, award up to six $500 scholarships to graduating seniors.
John DeAndrade, Jim Campbell and Billy Carreiro scored for the Fire Department. John Fanning scored for the Police. Goalies Chip Mackay (Fire) and John Bonney (Police) both played well in net.
The Fire Department built a 2-0 lead, but Fanning scored in the second period to cut the Police deficit to a single goal, making it a 2-1 game, but the SFD held on, adding an insurance goal later in the second period.
The in February in a charity hockey game at the Ponkapoag Ice Rink in Canton. Proceeds from that game went to the Fisher House Foundation, an organization that helps military families.
The Fire Department won , 5-2, in game played in February 2011 at the Canton Sportsplex.
