Large American Flag Donated to Town of Stoughton

The Raise the Flag project secured the funds needed to purchase a 30' x 60' American Flag for the Town of Stoughton. The event flag was presented to Fire Chief Mark Dolloff on March 20.

It was shortly after that Stoughton first grader Isabella Iacobucci and her mom, Patch writer Christine Iacobucci, launched the "" campaign, a fundraising project to help purchase a 30’ x 60’ American Flag for the Town of Stoughton.

The goal was to be able to purchase the flag in time for the 2012 Memorial Day parade.

At the end of February, Christine announced that "Raise the Flag" had secured the funding needed for the large event flag.

And, at the , the Iacobucci family presented the flag, folded and tied with a large red ribbon, to .

A little more than $2,000 was raised to purchase the flag from the Eagle Flag Company based out of Cohasset.

Now, the town won't have to borrow a large event flag from other neighboring communities as it did in 2011 when the Stoughton Fire Department had one on display at the first night of , at the  and at the July 4th Fireworks display. 

After the flag was presented, John Stagnone, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, thanked Bella and Christine and the donors.

"It shows you the sense of community in the town," he said.
