Norton Stabbing Victim ID'd As Stoughton Man; Listen To 911 Call
The suspect, 49-year-old Alfred Pond, was arraigned in Attleboro District Court Friday.

NORTON, MA — A Stoughton man was stabbed in the stomach during a road rage incident in Stoughton.
The suspect, 49-year-old Alfred Pond, was arraigned in Attleboro District Court Friday and ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing. He pleaded not guilty to various charges to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and causing serious bodily injury.
At about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, a 911 caller, identified as a 25-year-old Stoughton man, told Norton Police that he had been stabbed on Plain Street. He was found bleeding from the chest and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

He told police that he and another man, later identified as Pond, were involved in a road rage incident that started in Easton. When the two were in Norton, they stopped their vehicles and the Stoughton man was stabbed by Pond, according to police.
"I don't know where I am, I just got stabbed!" the victim yelled over the 911 call as a state police dispatcher transferred the call to Norton police.

Pond fled the scene, but the victim was able to give officers Pond's license plate. Pond was arrested at his Attleboro home a short time later. Police found the knife they believe Pond used in a wooded area near Plain Street, about a half-mile from the scene of the incident.
Police say that the victim had is spleen removed and is in stable condition. He could be in the hospital for weeks.

Pond is due back in court for the dangerousness hearing next week.
