Police Log: Goats Reported Running on Park Street, Retrieved by Officers

The following information was provided by the Stoughton Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

Saturday, Sept. 13

At 9:50 a.m., Stoughton police received a report that cars were blocking the roadway of Plain Street due to a yard sale being held on the street. Police checked the area and found the road passable.

At 10:43 a.m., a caller told police that a water main leading to his home on Corbett Road was broken. The Stoughton Department of Public Works was notified.

At 4:29 p.m., a caller reported that a disorderly female was in the front of CVS on Central Street; officers responded to check on the individual.

At 9 p.m., a caller reported a possible assault by gun at St. John Club on Washington Street. Officers responded to the area and investigated, but found no sign of assault.

At 10:25 p.m., police received a report that a black Monte Carlo drove on the grass of a nearby church on Park Street. The vehicle reportedly left the area heading toward Brockton. Officers spoke with the caller and determined no damage had been done to the lawn.

Sunday, Sept. 14

At 10:24 a.m., Stoughton police responded to Auto Zone on Central Street on a report of shoplifting, and arrested Darious Thomas, 24, of Brockton on charges of shoplifting by concealing merchandise and a warrant.

At 6:31 p.m., police received a report that four youths were spotted smoking marijuana in an older-model blue Honda parked in the area of School and Perry streets. Officers responded and checked the area, speaking with the youths. No marijuana was found and the vehicle was not registered.

At 7:39 p.m., a caller told police that two youths sprayed graffiti on a door of the Hansen School on Central Street. Officers responded and spoke with a parent of one of the youths, who planned to go back to the building to remove the profanity from the door.

At 9:17 p.m., police received a report of a robbery at Cumberland Farms on Park Street. A suspect was described as a black male with a height of 5 feet, 9 inches, stocky and wearing a white sweatshirt with a beard. He may have had a weapon in his waistband. A K-9 unit from the Canton Police Department responded.

Monday, Sept. 15

At 12:18 a.m., police received a report that a vehicle struck a telephone pole in front of her home on Poskus Street. Damage was reported to two properties along Poskus Street; officers issued a summons to a 25-year-old Stoughton man for operating a vehicle with a suspended license and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

At 4:01 p.m., police received a report that three goats had been running in the roadway of Park Street. Officers responded and retrieved the goats.

Tuesday, Sept. 16

At 10:48 a.m., police received a report from a caller who said they attempted to collect a payment on a bad check. Officers issued a summons to a 25-year-old Stoughton woman for larceny of less than $250, forgery of a check and utter of a false check.

At 2:11 p.m., police responded to the Stoughton Nursery on Washington Street after receiving a report that the nursery was robbed and an employee was assaulted. Two male suspects both seen wearing gloves reportedly left the area on foot toward the Town Spa. Offices subsequently sought charges against a 16-year-old juvenile for assault and battery by a dangerous weapon, armed assault to rob a person older than 60 years, assault and battery on a person older than 60 disabled with serious injury, armed robbery and conspiracy.

At 6:17 p.m., a caller requested a police escort to keep the peace while speaking to a tenant that the court had evicted. Offices placed Carla Depina, 33, of Stoughton for assault and battery.

Wednesday, Sept. 17

At 12:30 p.m., a caller reported property on Lowe Avenue had been damaged from an erratic driver out of Avon. Officers arrested Karen Overstreet, 43, of Stoughton, on charges of possession of a Class B and a Class E drug.
