Region Roundup: Marijuana Bust; Prostitution Charges; Walmart Shooting (And More)…

Detectives from the Stoughton Police Department arrested a Duxbury man living in Stoughton, after recovering approximately 25 pounds of marijuana from a home on Fosters Run Tuesday at 2 p.m.

Michael L. Vercollone of Duxbury, but living at a home on Fosters Run in Stoughton, was arrested and charged with possession to distribute class D and E substances as well as possession of class B and C substances

Terry Mussari, of Stoughton, was indicted by a Statewide Grand Jury on March 30 in connection with allegations of prostitution at her spas in Brockton, Canton and Norwood, according to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office.

Mussari, 45, was indicted on charges of Deriving Support from Prostitution (3 counts); Owner of a Place of Prostitution (3 counts); Keeping a House of Ill Fame (3 counts); Minimum Wage Violation (3 counts); and Failure to Provide Suitable Paystub (3 counts).

20-year-old Norton resident Ashley Weiner was charged by Avon Police with carrying a firearm without a license and conspiracy to violate the drug law.

The Avon Police Department, with the assistance of Massachusetts State Police Detectives attached to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office, the Brockton Police Department and State Police operating in Boston, are still investigating the apparent exchange of gunfire in the parking area of Walmart at 30 Memorial Drive, Avon that took place around 4 p.m. on March 27.

This past week, the Easton Fire Department responded to six brush fires in town, the largest of which occurred in the woods area behind 11 Bradford Street on Monday afternoon.

The fire was 100 feet by 100 feet in diameter and resulted in the state brush truck responding. The Stoughton Fire Department assisted with coverage and an extensive amount of overhaul was done with a large pile of burning logs.

No injuries were reported.

Whether dogs will remain allowed at Sharon's Memorial Park Beach will be decided at the May 7 annual town meeting.

"For lake reasons, not for people reasons or dog reasons," the Sharon Lake Management Study Committee will propose creating a bylaw enforced by Sharon Police, Chairman Clifford Towner told the board of health Monday night at the Sharon Town Offices.
