Stolen Dog Reunited With Boston Owner After Almost A Decade
Like something out of a movie, Rex the 11-year-old Yorkie is happy to be back home with his rightful owner after spending 9 years apart.

STOUGHTON, MA — Reunited and it feels so good. Nine years after her dog was stolen, a Boston woman was reunited with her now 11-year-old Yorkie named Rex.
Wednesday afternoon, Animal Control Officer Michelle Carlos responded to a report of a loose dog running on Record Street in Stoughton. Once Carlos was able to reach the dog, she found he had not been taken care of, the Stoughton Police Department shared on Facebook.
Stoughton police say Carlos took care of the dog, giving him water, food, and a bath. Once he was in better spirits, she checked for a microchip and found his name is Rex, about 11-years-old and belongs to a woman named Marzena out of Boston.

Police say Marzena was shocked to hear from Carlos because she told her 2-year-old dog Rex had been stolen from her 9 years ago in Boston. Marzena told police she was especially heartbroken over the loss because she had gotten Rex for her family to help ease the pain of losing a family member.
Marzena immediately went down to the station, and for the first time in almost a decade, she got to see her old friend again.

Marzena, who now has children who were born after Rex's disappearance, was excited to introduce them to her old pal.
Patch spoke with Lt. Bonney, a member of the Stoughton Police Department who said Rex was happy to be home and reported that Marzena told them he "had a very good first night at home and got to have a spa day today."
Bonney also said he wanted to stress the importance of microchipping your pets, "this dream reunion could not have happened without that technology," he said.
