Stoughton Hoopsters Win Charity Basketball Tournament to Benefit Homeless Children

Stoughton players push Team Dragon to a win in the Second Annual School on Wheels of Massachusetts 4-on-4 Basketball Tournament.

The following is a press release from School on Wheels of Massachusetts:

One hundred forty players on 26 teams raised more than $4,000 to benefit School on Wheels of Massachusetts (SOWMA) at the Second Annual SOWMA 4-on-4 Basketball Tournament in March.

Team Dragon, which included four players from Stoughton, won the Division A championship.

The fundraising event at Oliver Ames High School was organized to support SOWMA’s life-changing educational services for children and teens experiencing homelessness.

The Brockton-based SOWMA is the only Massachusetts organization providing one-on-one tutoring, new backpacks, school supplies, and educational advocacy and support to students in grades pre-K through college in multiple locations.

Division A victors on Team Dragon included Patrick Dragon, Roland Millien, Steve Austin and Darnell Wilson, all of Stoughton, and Jamal Johnson of Fall River. They are pictured in the gallery with Tournament Organizer Marty Weiner and SOWMA Executive Director Cheryl Opper.
