Police say there were also several cars illegally parked nearby inside the housing development, blocking the entrance and exit of other vehicles. When officers entered the common hallway of the building, they allegedly saw that the walls were covered in graffiti. One of the officers looked under the stairwell and observed a loaded black Ruger .380 Auto Model LCP11 with an obliterated serial number.
Due to the group’s close proximity to the recovered firearm, officers conducted frisks of the individuals and their vehicles. Officers observed the vehicle closest to the group to be illegally parked and inquired whose it was. Nova produced the keys and informed officers that it was registered to 30-year-old Alex J. Valdez of Mattapan. A frisk of the vehicle allegedly revealed two additional firearms, a loaded black Taurus 9mm Millenium G2 with obliterated serial number and high capacity feeding device and a loaded black Glock .40 Model 22. Neither Nova nor Valdez could produce a license to carry. Valdez was also arrested and faces the same charges as Nova.
