Teen In Crash That Killed 4 Stoughton HS Teens Arraigned

Naiquan Hamilton faces charges related to the crash that took the lives of four Stoughton High School students.

STOUGHTON, MA — The teen charged in an East Bridgewater crash that took the lives of four Stoughton High School students appeared in court Monday afternoon.

Naiquan Hamilton, 18, was arraigned as a youthful offender in Brockton District Court's juvenile session Monday afternoon. He pleaded not guilty to four counts of manslaughter by motor vehicle, motor vehicle homicide by operating under the influence, and motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation and was released on personal recognizance, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's office.

Hamilton was also ordered to not drive, turn in his passport, and have no contact with the victims' families.

Hamilton was 17 during the May 19 crash that killed Christopher Desir, 17, of Brockton; Eryck Sablah, 17, of Stoughton; Nicholas Joyce, 16, of Stoughton; and David Bell, 17, of Stoughton. The five were on Route 106 when the vehicle was driven into a tree.

Hamilton was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton before being transferred to Boston Medical Center.

Authorities say that Hamilton was driving recklessly and had marijuana in his system at the time of his crash. Officers say they found marijuana edibles and what they believe to be marijuana in the car wreckage.

Hamilton is due back in court Oct. 29.
