When is Stoughton's Fall Hazardous Waste Collection Day?

Find out when the event will be held and what the associated feels will be.

Stoughton officials announced this week that the town will hold a Hazardous Waste Collection event next month.

The collection will be held rain or shine on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the O’Donnell Middle school Parking Lot at 211 Cushing St.

Those who plan on attending should enter via the Stoughton High School gym parking lot on Pearl Street and proceed to the rear access road to the collection event.

The collection will also allow for residents to drop off needles or sharps (syringes or needles and lancets). Sharps should be stored and delivered in a puncture-resistant container and residents should not mix sharps in household trash.

Materials should be brought in their original containers, either boxed or secured.

The following materials will be accepted:

  • Waste Motor Oil
  • Aerosol cans
  • Antifreeze
  • Lamp ballast
  • Airplane glue
  • Used paint thinners
  • Flammable liquids
  • Household batteries
  • Cleaning fluids
  • Old gas
  • Oil-based paints
  • CRTs, electronics
  • Lawn chemicals
  • Old chemistry sets
  • Automotive fluids
  • Pool chemicals
  • Disinfectants
  • Pesticides
  • Photo chemicals

The following items will not be accepted:

  • Latex paints
  • Smoke & CO2 detectors
  • Radioactive waste
  • PCBS
  • Unlabeled articles
  • Asbestos
  • Explosives
  • Unknown items

Latex paints should be disposed of in the following manner:

  • Remove lid from paint cans
  • Allow the paint to air dry several days in a well-ventilated area
  • Dispose of in trash or roll off container when dry

Fees for the collection will be as follows:
(For tires, fees are the same with the rims on or off)

  • Car tires: $2 each
  • Light truck SUV tires: $3 each
  • Truck tires: $10 and up
  • Construction equipment tires: $20 and up
  • Auto batteries: $2
  • Propane Tanks: 16oz ($1), 20 lbs. ($5)
