See How Much Rain Sudbury Got During Tropical Storm Ida
Some parts of the region saw rain totals in excess of 7 inches over a 24-hour period — more than double what we get in a typical month.

SUDBURY, MA — Historically, central Massachusetts gets just under 4 inches of rain in a typical August or September, according to state statistics.
During storm Ida, some local cities and towns got double that amount in just a few hours.
Preliminary rainfall estimates show that — as forecasts predicted — Massachusetts got absolutely soaked by the remnants of Hurricane Ida, with many cities and towns getting much more than a month's worth of rain in less than 24 hours.

The local winners were Holliston and Leominster, which received 7.42 and 7.08 inches, respectively. That's more than a Worcester rainfall observation station received in all of August (5.42 inches, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), which was a month that included Hurricane Henri and storm Fred.
The good news: we'll have some time to dry out. The Labor Day forecast is mostly sunny and dry, except for about a 50 percent chance of rain on Sunday.
