Shall the Town of Sudbury be allowed to exempt from the provisions of proposition two-and-one-half, so called, the amounts required to pay for the bonds issued in order to pay costs of the replacement and repair of the General John Nixon Elementary Roof system located at 472 Concord Road, Sudbury, MA 01776, including the payment of all costs incidental or related thereto?
- Summary: This question asks voters whether the town should exempt the cost of funds for replacing and repairing the roof at Josiah Haynes Elementary School.
- A "yes" vote would allow the town to raise additional property tax revenue to pay debt service on the roof project.
- A "no" vote would mean the town should explore alternative funding sources or defer the project until it can be paid for with current revenues.
- Arguments in favor: The roof is beyond its life span, has leaks that disrupt learning and strain the operating budget. If the need was addressed now, it would reduce future maintenance costs.
- Arguments in opposition: The debt exclusion could increase property taxes.
