Sudbury Officials Ask Residents To 'Adopt a Hydrant'

It's a matter of safety. Firefighters can get their hoses attached faster if they have access to the fire hydrant. You can help.

SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury officials, particularly the Sudbury Water District and Sudbury Fire Department, are urging residents to partake in the Adopt a Hydrant program in town.

It is what it sounds like. You take on a hydrant like a child, taking care of that child by making sure its shoveled out for easy access. There are more than 1,000 hydrants in Sudbury and each one is potentially vital in the event of an emergency.

Adopting a hydrant is as simple as four easy steps, and you can find them here.
