Sudbury School Committee Ratifies Contracts With Employee Groups

SPS voted to approve three contracts earlier this month, and they have since been ratified and placed into effect.

SUDBURY, MA — The Sudbury School Committee and multiple employee organizations have reached collective bargaining agreements, the committee announced on Monday.

The Sudbury School Committee voted to approve three contracts on Jan. 5, and they have since been ratified and placed in effect. The agreements involve the Sudbury Education Association, the Educational Support Professional Association of Sudbury, and the Sudbury Educational Association of Custodial Employees.

The agreements follow a bargaining process involving the school committee, the Committee's Negotiations/Labor Relations Subcommittee, the district administration, the Town Manager's Office, and representatives from each employee association.

“These agreements reflect the shared commitment of our educators, staff, and leadership to maintaining strong schools for our students," said Superintendent Brad Crozier. "I am grateful for the professionalism, care, and collaboration demonstrated throughout this process.”

The process took into account factors like supporting students and staff, as well as the long-term stability of the school district, according to SPS. The contracts address items like fair and consistent leave practices, sustainable workloads, student and staff health and safety, and compensation.

The contracts include multi-year cost-of-living adjustments, meaning wages could increase each year, and a new payment structure that recognizes long-serving employees. Wage increases include a three-percent increase on July 1, 2025, a two-percent increase on July 1, 2026, and a three-percent increase during the final year of the contract.

The contracts also strengthen leave practices, including enhanced paid family medical leave, updated personal leave provisions, the establishment of joint Health and Safety Committees, mechanisms for monitoring and reviewing conditions, and clarified procedures for assignments, workplace safety, and injury reporting, SPS said.

“The School Committee appreciates the time, dedication, and good-faith effort
contributed by all parties," said Sudbury School Committee Chair Karyn Jones. "These agreements support the people who support our students and align with our mission to provide safe, equitable, and high-quality learning environments for every child in Sudbury.”
