1 Dead, 6 Injured In Lynn Shooting Early Saturday: Reports

"This violence was put on them in a terrible way." — Essex DA Paul Tucker told news outlets, about the social gathering.

LYNN, MA — One person died and six others were wounded, including two critically, in Lynn in a drive-by shooting early Saturday morning, authorities told NBC Boston.

Police told the outlet that they responded to multiple 911 calls about a shooting at a social gathering on Essex Street. Essex District Attorney Paul Tucker confirmed for the outlet the shots came from a vehicle.

The victim was not identified but a man at the scene, Brian Diaz, told the outlet that it was his 25-year-old brother, Abraham Diaz. The shooting took place at a party to celebrate a friend who was leaving for college, the outlet reported.

Tucker told WCVB-TV, "This is a terrible act of violence. We do not believe this was a random act of violence."

"They were having some type of a social gathering,” he told the outlet. “This violence was put upon them in a terrible way."

Police have not taken any suspects into custody, according to reports.
