Crash By the Goodwill Truck Leads to OUI Arrest
Here's the latest from the Swampscott Police Department log.

Thursday, Oct. 1
At 12:44 a.m., a caller reported loud noise coming from a nearby business. The noise was being made by an employee cleaning up; the person was advised to stop.
At 10:22 a.m., a caller said that neighbors had moved and abandoned their cat. The cat was picked up by the animal control officer and taken to an area animal hospital. The owner was notified.

At 4:16 p.m., a call came in about an MBTA employee refusing to let someone on the bus.
At 4:27 p.m., an officer passing in a cruiser reported fire from a roof on Burrill Street. Read more about this incident here.

At 7:08 p.m., police spoke with solicitors who didn’t have a permit.
At 9:33 p.m., a minor motor vehicle accident was reported in the Stop & Shop lot by the Goodwill truck. Police subsequently arrested Daniel Gauthier, 29, of Salem on charges of OUI liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
