Dog Found Tied to a Bench at the Beach

Plus, a car vandalized for the second time, a strong smell of gas, and a shoplifter reported.

At 6:25 a.m., a caller reported a vehicle passing on a double yellow line and speeding on Atlantic Avenue.

At 8:44 a.m., a motor vehicle was reported to have been vandalized. It is the second time the vehicle on Pine Street has been vandalized recently.

At 3:17 p.m., a shoplifter was reported at Stop & Shop. The suspect was a white male wearing a royal blue shirt. He reportedly ran across Essex Street and into the wooded area toward Loring Towers.

At 5:47 p.m., a caller said they had found a dog tied to a bench on King’s Beach. The dog, a passerby said, had been tied up there for “awhile.” The caller took the dog to some water.

At 10:52 p.m., a police sergeant reported a strong smell of gas on Banks Road.
