FBI Report: How Much Violent Crime Happened in Swampscott?

The FBI recently released its annual ”Crime in the United States” report, which includes information about Swampscott.

According to the report, Swampscott saw 18 violent crimes in 2014. Violent crime includes offenses involving force or the threat of force: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravated assault, according to the FBI.

There was one reported rape, three robberies, and 14 aggravated assaults.

Other crime stats for Swampscott include 205 larcenies, 36 burglaries, eight motor vehicle thefts and 249 property crimes.

Nationally, violent crime decreased nationally last year by 0.2 percent from 2013, according to the report.
