ICYMI: Route 1A Southbound Traffic Will Be Detoured Beginning Monday

The detour is to allow for a drainage project in the area.

A major drainage project on Route 1A (Paradise Road) in Swampscott will significantly alter traffi patterns beginning next week and continuing until November.

Swampscott police outlined the following plan:

  • Northbound traffic will continue to utilize Route 1A toward Salem.

The project and detour are expected to begin Monday, Aug. 24 and remain in place until mid-November, according to an announcement from police.
