ICYMI: Swampscott Among 'Snobbiest' Towns in Massachusetts, Ranking Shows

Home values and average income part of ranking methodology, website says.

Swampscott has found itself among some oh-so-elite company.

Let’s remember, though, it’s all in good fun.

According to roadsnacks.net, Swampscott is the No. 10 “snobbiest” town in Massachusetts, behind towns like Wellesley, Weston, Concord, Winchester and Sharon.

The website ranked Masschusetts’ top 10 ”snobbiest” towns towns by assessing those with a population of 5,000 or more. It created a point system to rank median home price, median household income, percent of population with a college degree and a few other pieces of criteria.

It recorded Swampscott’s median household income at $106,000 and its median home price at $450,000.

Of Swampscott, the site says:

Alright Swampscott, you made it into the snob spotlight. Now, you can think even more highly of yourselves as you sit in your huge homes, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, watching the poor saps down below struggle with their beach umbrellas.

Home prices are pretty high here, and in some spots along the coast, homes can fetch upwards of $10 million.
