Latest Swampscott Coronavirus Updates: 32 Cases In Town

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The new coronavirus outbreak in Massachusetts and across the country is having vast impacts in Swampscott. Patch has compiled this round-up of the latest, local coronavirus news.

On Monday, Swampscott officials reported 32 confirmed coronavirus cases in town. As of Monday, there were 13,837 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in Massachusetts. So far, there have been 260 coronavirus deaths in Massachusetts.

Swampscott remains under a stay-at-home order for residents. Swampscott voters will head to the polls on June 2 instead of April 28 afterselectmen unanimously approved the postponement in a virtual meeting last week. The board also pushed back the date of the annual town meeting to June 22 from May 18.

Schools across the state will remain closed until at least May 4 and are continuing to send home remote-learning activities for students. State education officials have still not determined whether they will be able to postpone or even cancel MCAS exams.
