Local Team to Compete in Lifeguard Battle

The Iron Guard Competition happens on Wednesday at Revere Beach.

Lifeguards from Nahant Beach will be among teams from across the state that will compete in Wednesday’s Iron Guard Competition at Revere Beach.

The competition involves more than 50 lifeguards as part of teams participating in competitive activities designed to showcase their lifeguarding skills. The lifeguards come from DCR waterfronts and pools across the state.

In addition to the Nahant team, teams will also be there from Salisbury Beach and Horseneck Beach, plus other teams from waterfronts in central and western Massachusetts, according to William Hickey, a DCR spokesman. The Salisbury and Horseneck beach teams have previously won national lifeguarding competitions.
