Lynn Mother Indicted For Child Endangerment Found

A Lynn woman's infant was pronounced dead after he was found in a cluttered crib.

LYNN, MA – Laci Kirk, of Lynn, was indicted for wanton or reckless endangerment of a child on Tuesday afternoon by an Essex County Grand Jury. She was found on Thursday morning, and was expected to be arraigned the same day.

Kirk is accused of leaving her child unattended for several hours at a time while staying at Independence House, a Lynn shelter. In September 2015, Kirk's son Charles, almost 4 months old, was found unresponsive with a small amount of blood coming from his nose. He was pronounced dead at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Responding officers said Kirk's speech was slurred, and she smelled of alcohol. The autopsy showed Charles died of natural causes, but the Essex District Attorney's office notes that Kirk's lack of attendance prompted shelter staff to file a report with DCF.
