Mall Hosts 'Social Shopping' Back to School Event

With the new school year fast approaching, Simon and Teen Vogue are hosting a series of back to school events at more than 80 shopping centers across the country to get young people prepped to head back to class. Northshore Mall’s kick-off “ABC’s of Style” festivities take place on Saturday, Aug. 9 from noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 10 from noon to 4 p.m., helping families have fun while shopping for seasonal must-haves.

Simon’s ABC’s of Style events, presented by Unilever brands St. Ives, Simple and Q-tips in association with Coca-Cola and Fox’s new fall series RED BAND SOCIETY, also launch the shopping centers’ collaboration with Teen Vogue for its “Back-To-School Saturdays” initiative, chock full of offerings throughout the month of August.

“This is an exciting time of year and as Northshore Mall is the center of fashion on the North Shore, teaming up with Teen Vogue elevates our back-to-school shopping season into a true fashion and entertainment experience that helps parents and students alike get set for the upcoming school year,” Lauren Dalis at Northshore Mall.

Northshore Mall’s ABC’s of Style events will include various elements to give students the social shopping experience they seek. Featured event activities were created by keeping young shoppers’ preferences top-of-mind:

Saturday Aug. 9 – noon–8 p.m.

· Andy Grammer Performs! – National recording artist Andy Grammer will perform live on stage at noon! Guests can purchase his new release “Magazines or Novels” at Newbury Comics any time after Aug. 5 (or during the performance) and receive a wrist band to have a CD autographed.

· Tilly’s Music Series, featuring For The Year and Front Porch Step– Tilly’s is sponsoring two very talented performers, starting at 3 p.m. in the lower level Nordstrom Wing. For the Year, a local band out of Boxford, will play live at 3 p.m. Front Porch Step, who has been featured on the Vans Warped Tour, will perform live at 3:45 p.m., followed by a meet and greet inside Tilly’s at4:30 p.m.

· The North Face Peabody Backpack Demonstrations – Learn about The North Face’s newest backpack, capable of charging all of your electronic devices. You can enter to win one at Guest Services.

· Music Listening Lounge sponsored by Sound Lion & LoveSac –Demo the incredibly stylish and comfortable furniture and LoveSac’s while listening to music at our Listening Lounge. Sound Lion employees will be on hand to teach you about the latest products that will change the way you hear music.

· Brain Station hosted by Marbles: The Brain Store – Get your wheels turning! Visit the interactive table featuring games and products Marbles: The Brain Store specifically designed to stimulate your mind!

· Josie Maran Makeup Demonstrations and Tutorials at Sephora– Join the makeup artists from Sephora, Noon to 6 p.m., in front of the store and experience Josie Maran Makeup Demonstrations and tutorials.

Sunday Aug. 10 – noon–4 p.m.

· Exclusive Style Guide: ABC’s of Style event attendees and back-to-school shoppers have the chance to pick up an exclusive Simon and Teen Vogue style guide, featuring fashion looks curated by style experts. Beyond the event, shoppers can also pick up a guide at Northshore Mall’s Guest Services.

· Fashion Show: Families will have a chance to view the hottest trends of the season on the runway and receive first-hand fashion advice from Teen Voguestylists.

· Special Musical Performance: ABC’s of Style event attendees can enjoy a meet and greet and musical performance by AJR at 3 p.m. on the lower level Nordstrom wing. AJR, is a New York City based indie pop band made up of three brothers, who have achieved a startlingly quick level of success with their major hit “I’m Ready,” a buoyant electro-pop single that’s taking off. AJR was recently featured singing “I’m Ready,” on the TODAY show.

· Mall-Wide Discount Offers and Samples: Event attendees can engage in free interactive games, view a sneak peek of Fox’s new fall series RED BAND SOCIETY, enjoy product demonstrations and walk away with free giveaways from St. Ives, Simple, Q-tips and Coca-Cola. Attendees can also pick up a SWAG bag at the registration table filled with other goodies and offers (while supplies last).
