National Cheeseburger Day: What's Your Favorite Spot to Get One?

Thursday, Sept. 18 is National Cheeseburger Day, with some restaurants offering free burgers or other specials to celebrate.

Thursday is National Cheeseburger Day. Every year, the day is “celebrated” on Sept. 18. While it’s not a federal holiday, it is a great opportunity to share your favorite place to eat the American classic.

Some restaurants are celebrating the day with specials. At the 99, the chain offered all burgers for $5 a few days early - on Monday - to celebrate the day. Fuddruckers, with several locations in Massachusetts including North Andover, Reading and Saugus, is celebrating with a Three-pound burger challenge, offering customers two free meals and a T-shirt if they can finish a 3-pound cheeseburger and 1-pound of French Fries in less than an hour. At Kings Bowl, each customers can get one free cheeseburger between 5-8 p.m. Kings has a location at Market Street in Lynnfield, plus Dedham and Boston.
