The man accused of murdering 25-year-old Swampscott mother Jaimee Mendez will stay in jail for the time being.

Jason Fleury’s attorney, Michael Phelan, withdrew his request for a bail hearing Monday, according to The Salem News. The attorney did, however, file several additional motions related to access to evidence including toxicology reports and tissue samples taken from Mendez’s remains.

After the hearing, Mendez’s mother, Michelle Mendez, told reporters she feels like she’s “still back in November” when her daughter was last seen because she hasn’t been told much of anything about her daughter’s death.

During Fleury’s arraignment in August, prosecutors revealed that it appeared Mendez had been beaten, but they have not given additional details about the circumstances surrounding her death.

Mendez was last seen on Nov. 6, 2014. Her disappearance led to a wide search that yielded no answers until her remains washed ashore on Swampscott’s King’s Beach on Jan. 28. Fleury, a level 3 sex offender, was arrested in Virginia in August after a grand jury handed down a secret indictment. He has pleaded not guilty to the murder.

According to The Salem News, Fleury is due back in court on Nov. 30.
