Splashover, Minor Flooding Possible for Wednesday's High Tide
The combination of a heavy rain storm and an onshore flow could create minor flooding along the coast midday Wednesday.

Splashover and minor coastal flooding is possible during high tide on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
A coastal flood advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday. High tide in Swampscott will happen at about 2 p.m. The advisory is in effect for the east and south coasts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The Wednesday afternoon high tide along the North Shore will have a storm surge of about a foot with waves up to 3 feet.

The weather service said it was most concerned about “the most vulnerable shore roads” during the midday high tide cycle.
“Heavy rain combined with an onshore flow may exacerbate the problem,” the weather service said in its advisory, adding that the storm may delay the drainage of water after high tide.

The advisory was issued because minor flooding is possible but most roads will stay open and “there is no significant threat to life and any impact on property is minimal,” the weather service said.
