SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The Swampscott High football players and cheerleaders are back on the field and getting ready for a state championship defense.

Swampscott beat North Reading for the Division 5 statewide crown last fall and the players and cheer squad are working hard toward a return to Gillette Stadium in advance of the first game of that banner defense against Auburn.

The season kicks off on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. at Swampscott's Blocksidge Field.
