Swampscott Bakery, Cocktail Bar To Close Permanently On Christmas Eve

Zestfriends on Humphrey Street's owners said Friday will be the final day of operation.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — A unique bakery and cocktail bar in Swampscott will not reopen for the new year.

Owners of Zestfriends on Humphrey Street said their last day of operation will be Friday.

"We want to thank everyone who supported us through this journey," the owners posted on social media. "We feel fortunate to have decided to do this in a community where we were able to make so many connections and fulfill our mission — Pairing unique flavors and local people.

"We hope you continue to support other local businesses and those who follow us."

Zestfriends billed itself as "A bakery by day and a cocktail bar by night, serving zestfriendly food (uniquely paired flavors) to locals hoping they share a story with a stranger, leave with good memories and return with a new friend."

Zestfriends will have a final night of live music and mixed drinks on Friday with the Blue Honey Drops from 7 to 9 p.m.

Swampscott Select Board Chair Neal Duffy said at Wednesday's meeting that Zestfriends owners withdrew their entertainment permit application for 2023.

"I just want to thank them," Duffy said. "It was an incredible place and I am so sorry to see them closing down.

"We wish the owners all the best."
