Swampscott Church to Participate in National Vigil to End Gun Violence

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn will hold a vigil on Dec. 14, the fourth anniversary of the Sandy Hook Shooting.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA – The Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn will join multiple gun violence prevention organizations next week for a vigil to remember those killed by gun violence since the Sandy Hook shooting.

The Sandy Hook shooting, which killed 20 children and six adults, occurred on Dec. 14, 2012.

Several organizations will hold vigils nationwide on Dec. 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. The Massachusetts vigil will be at the UU Church of Greater Lynn on Forest Avenue in Swampscott. In Swampscott, attendees will remember those killed at Sandy Hook Elementary, light a candle, and chime a bell for each of them.

A Saugus mother who lost her son to accidental gun shot wounds will also speak, representing Mother On A Mission.

The event is sponsored by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. According to Stop Handgun Violence, more than 100,000 Americans have been killed by gun violence since the tragic events at Sandy Hook.
