Swampscott Dog Owners Leaving Town After Selectmen's Decision
Swampscott selectmen had ordered restrictions for the family's pets after the town's first ever dangerous dog hearing.
SWAMPSCOTT, MA — A Puritan Road family said they will move out of Swamscott by April 24 after selectmen declared their three dogs dangerous.
During a public hearing Wednesday, selectmen issued a temporary ruling barring the family's oldest dog from town and implemented restrictions on two younger dogs. The actions came after the town's first-ever dangerous dog hearing in January.
Glenn, Irene, and Rebecca Schwartz did not attend Wednesday hearing. An attorney representing the family submitted a letter saying the family plans top move out of state with all three dogs. The dogs were accused of attacking two dogs in separate incidents in November and December as their owners walked by the Schwartz's home.
