Swampscott Football, Field Hockey Teams Stir Playoff Fever

The two Big Blue squads will take the field in Round of 8 games in the statewide tournaments this weekend.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott High School students and sports fans will have plenty to root for this weekend as Big Blue squads play in the football and field hockey statewide playoffs.

The second-seeded Swampscott football team will host seventh-seeded Dover-Sherborn in a Division 5 quarterfinal game at Phillips Field Saturday at noon.

The Big Blue is the only remaining undefeated team in Division 5 with a 9-0 record.

Swampscott advanced to the quarterfinals with a 55-19 romp past Apponoquet in the first round.

The fifth-seeded Swampscott field hockey team will make the trip to face fourth-seeded Triton in the Division 3 quarterfinals Saturday at 10 a.m.

The Big Blue field hockey squad reached the Round of 8 with a 4-0 victory against North Middlesex and a 4-1 triumph against Medfield.
