Swampscott High Alum Honored For Hockey Safety Efforts
Ryan Coleman was awarded the 2022 Dr. Alan Ashare Safety Award from Massachusetts Hockey.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — A former Swampscott High hockey captain has been honored for his efforts to make the sport safer.
Ryan Coleman, who played youth hockey in Swampscott and was the captain of the Big Blue varsity team his senior year, was named the 2022 Dr. Alan Ashare Safety Award recipient from Massachusetts Hockey for his leadership within the hockey community.
Part of Massachusetts Hockey since 2014, his recent efforts include accelerating the adoption and integration of the "Look-Up Line" — also known as ice hockey's warning track — into rinks across the United States and Canada.

The Fallon Company's Director of Government relations was also an advocate for safety in the sport during the COVID-19 health crisis when he helped Massachusetts Hockey navigate the often-changing state safety regulations.
Because of his work, many players across the state were able to continue playing hockey after the first months of the coronavirus pandemic when rinks were allowed to reopen.
