Swampscott High School Names New Basketball Coach
Swampscott High School has a new head varsity boys basketball coach.
SWAMPSCOTT, MA – Swampscott High School alum Justin Fucile will take over as head varsity boys basketball coach, where he played when he was a student.
Fucile was one of several candidates for the job, according to a statement from Swampscott High School's athletic department. He's a certified math teacher, and holds a degree from UMass Boston.
"Coach Fucile was selected from a very talented pool of candidates. The screening committee (comprised of myself, Kelly Farley, athletic director, a current player, a parent of a current player, and a community member) had a tough job selecting the candidates to interview, then an even tougher time selecting Mr. Fucile," said Principal Robert Murphy.

"I believe the role of a coach is to be a teacher who fosters important life lessons," said Fucile. "During the high school years, student athletes will learn a great deal about decision making that will greatly impact their lives both on and off the court. These nurturing growing years empower student athletes with the tools necessary to succeed in life, academics, discipline, communication, integrity, character, hard work, leadership, pride problem solving, respect, sportsmanship, and teamwork."
