Swampscott Library Seeks Submissions For Quarantine DIary

The library is accepting photos, videos, and short diary entries documenting life in Swampscott during the coronavirus crisis.

"We know that this is a moment in history that will never be forgotten, and we would like to know what people were up to, what they were thinking and feeling, if they started any projects, or created pieces of art while sheltering in place."

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — An 11-second video clip dramatically revealing two rolls of paper towls. A poem called "Ode to COVID's Finale." A second-grade teacher's narrative of running her class on Zoom.

They are among the artifacts the Swampscott Public Library has already collected for what it is calling "Swampscott: Life In Quarantine, A Digital Diary."

"It’s a bit like a time capsule, except it won’t be hidden away somewhere for several years and can be viewed at any time," the project's introduction reads. "We know that this is a moment in history that will never be forgotten, and we would like to know what people were up to, what they were thinking and feeling, if they started any projects, or created pieces of art while sheltering in place."
