Several of the stolen items from both homes were recovered nearby. A description was obtained of a possible suspect and broadcast to patrol units, according to police.
A short time after that, police said an alert resident on a nearby street reported seeing an unknown man jumping over a fence into another neighbor’s yard along Humphrey Street.
While officers continued to search the area, Marblehead detectives continued to conduct interviews and got a description of the vehicle the suspect might have been using to get out of town.
A radio broadcast was put out for the suspect and an alert Swampscott Police officer spotted the car on Humphrey Street in Swampscott and stopped it. Officers from Marblehead joined the Swampscott Police and Wooden was taken into custody without incident.
Wooden was ordered held without bail and was scheduled to be arraigned at Lynn District Court on Wednesday.
