The public should not pick up abandoned hypodermic needles "due to risk of exposure."

SWAMPSCOTT—Swampscott Police are warning the public to not pick up abandoned hypodermic needles "due to risk of exposure."

The department has frequently been called to retrieve hypodermic needles on Town beaches and roadways.

They are advising beachgoers to call the Swampscott Police at 781-595-1111 if you discover a needle so the department can safely retrieve the needle.
