Swampscott Renewable Energy Committee Seeks New Members

If you're interested in renewable energy and town government, this may be the position for you.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA – The Swampscott Renewable Energy Committee (REC) seeks two new members for the seven-person committee. The REC is a very active committee with a mission to pursue energy conservation, energy efficiency and conversion to greener energy sources.

The committee was instrumental in obtaining recognition for Swampscott as a Green Community in 2010 and in subsequently obtaining three-quarters of a million dollars for energy improvements at municipal buildings and town streetlights. The REC has also been educating residents about energy efficiency opportunities and supported the Solarize Swampscott program, which encouraged 36 households to install solar panels a few years ago.

Anyone who might be interested is encouraged to attend an REC meeting and/or to contact Director of Community Development Pete Kane at pkane@town.swampscott.ma.us to let him know of your interest. Anyone who is enthusiastic about energy issues is encouraged to consider this opportunity. If you're interested in applying, simply fill out the form online (http://swampscottmaboards.vt-s.net/newcaf.php).
