SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association has honored Swampscott High three-sport athlete and Super Bowl champion Cole Hamernick as its Student-Athlete of the Month for February 2022.
Hamernick, an AP student who has also volunteered his time as a soccer coach for special needs children, is a standout football, track and lacrosse athlete who helped the Big Blue to a Division 5 Super Bowl victory against North Reading at Gillette Stadium in December.
"Unmatched work ethic and ability to unite his peers set him apart from the rest," Swampscott track and field coach Brian Kirkland said. "Very few people can positively transform a team's demeanor in the manner he did."
