Volunteers are Needed for a New Town Committee

In case you missed it during a busy week, Swampscott needs five volunteers for the new Municipal Communication Committee.

The Swampscott Board of Selectmen are looking for a few good volunteers to serve on the Municipal Communication Committee.

The new committee will be responsible for “content, printing, municipal newsletter, municipal press releases, development of social media sites with municipal departments-promote specific municipal events / or announcements,” according to the announcement. Additionally, the committee will make a “regular review of the Municipal website and make recommendations to the Technology Manager and the Town Administrator.”

The Board of Selectmen will appoint five members who will serve staggered three-year terms, according to the announcement. Selectmen created the committee recently to handle communication with the public rather than hiring a public information officer to handle the responsibilities, Town Administrator Thomas Younger told The Salem News.
