Under the headline “One Veteran’s Perspective,” the White House site highlights Moulton’s combat experience as one of the first Marines to enter Iraq in 2003.
Moulton initially sent his message to the White House email list on Monday morning to share why, as a combat veteran, he supports the Iran deal, according to the website.

“During the Iraq war, I saw the weapons and influence of the Iranian regime, and I deeply understand the threat Iran poses to America and our allies like Israel,” Moulton wrote. “That is why it is so crucial that the international community works together to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. After careful deliberation, I believe the Iran nuclear deal does just that. You can investigate the deal yourself here.”
Moulton adds that he does not, and that the nation should not, trust Iran to comply with the agreement.
“But this deal is not based on trust,” he stated. “It’s based on enforceable verification measures that are comprehensive enough to be effective.”
