Alert Homeowner Helps Police Nab B&E Suspect

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Tewksbury homeowner spotted a man allegedly breaking into his vehicle and his sharp eyes and detailed description helped police quickly track down the suspect.

According to a Tewksbury Police report, the Chandler Street resident called dispatch at 7:43 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, to report that a man had just broken into both of his vehicles while they were parked in his driveway.

The man described the suspect as white, around 25, wearing a gray sweatshirt. He said the man escaped in a late 80s or early 90s grey/silver Pontiac Grand Am heading toward Pine Street.

About 20 minutes later, police pulled over a vehicle further down Chandler Street that matched the description given by the victim. Following a brief investigation the driver was placed under arrest.

Duran McNeill, 29, 50 Hildreth St. Apt. 3, Lowell, was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license, two counts of breaking and entering into a vehicle in the nighttime with the intent of committing a felony and two counts of larceny under $250.

Walmart employee arrested for thefts

On Saturday, Jan. 19, at 5:22 a.m., the manager of the Tewksbury Walmart called police to report he had detained an employee accused of theft. According to the manager, the employee had stolen two CDs but had confessed to stealing many more previously.

Normand E. Heyl, 39, 81 Westford St., Apt. 1, Lowell, was charged with larceny over $250.

Additional arrests:

James Sitar, 25, 568 Chandler St., Tewksbury, was arrested on Jan. 20 and charged with domestic assault and battery and intimidating a witness.

Eric M. Ryals, 27, 6 Lantern Lane, Billerica, was arrested on Jan. 20 and charged with OUI-liquor (2nd offense), negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and a marked lanes violation.

David C. Layton, 44, 1280 Middlesex St., Apt. 6, Lowell, was arrested on Jan. 19 on a warrant.

Justin K. Wojcik, 23, 72 Charme Road, Billerica, was arrested on Jan. 19 and charged with OUI-liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.

Daniel Figueroa, 52, 175 Willard St., Apt. 3, Lowell, was arrested on Jan. 18 and was charged with OUI-liquor (2nd offense), a lights violation and a number plate violation. At the time of his arrest, he was traveling with a juvenile male who was given courtesy transport back to the Police Headquarters.

Additional incidents:

An Edgewood Road resident called police on Monday, Jan. 21 at 2:36 p.m. to report someone had smashed the driver's side window of his car while it was in his driveway.

On Sunday, Jan. 20 at 4:07 p.m., a Chandler Street resident called police to report their vehicle had been broken into.

On Sunday, Jan. 20, at 8:04 p.m., a Pennacook Road resident called police to report that, during a phone conversation, her ex-husband had just threatened to kill her.
