Boston Man Charged With Assaulting, Injuring Pregnant Woman
Woman was allegedly held against her will at Tewksbury motel.

A 26-year-old Boston man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly holding a pregnant woman against her will in a Tewksbury motel and then beating her when she tried to escape.
Mark Silvia, of 39 Boylston St, was arrested after police responded to a 911 call from a guest at the Motel Caswell, reporting a possible domestic assault in the adjacent room.
The first officers at the scene found Silvia and a woman in Room 238. According to they interviewed the two separately and learned that the woman had been assaulted and was injured. They also learned that the woman was four months pregnant. She was taken Lowell Hospital Saints Campus for treatment of her injuries.

According to the Tewksbury Police report, further investigation revealed that Silvia had held the victim against her will in the motel room for over two-and-a-half hours. During this time, Silvia allegedly verbally and physically assaulted the victim, slapping her in the face.
According to the report, the victim tried to use a cell phone to text message 911 but was unsuccessful.

The victim told officers that at one point, when Silvia was distracted, she tried to flee the room. Silvia allegedly grabbed her and threw her back into the hotel room against a wall. The victim said she bounced off the wall and struck her head on a table while falling.
Silvia was arrested and charged with kidnapping assault and battery, assault of a disabled person resulting in injury, assault and battery with serious bodily injury and witness intimidation.
