Candidates for School Committee, Selectmen To Square Off Tonight

Residents are invited to attend tonight's Tewksbury Town Election Debate to learn more about their neighbors running for elected office on the Board of Selectmen and the School Committee.

This year two seats on the Board of Selectmen are up for election, currently held by incumbent candidate Todd Johnson and Anne Marie Stronach. Stronach is not seeking re-election, and the open seat has attracted five challengers including Jim Wentworth, Ken Miano, Richard Menard, Robert Marcin, and Mary Ellen Fernald.

Incumbent and School Committee Chairperson Krissy Polimeno is up for re-election this year. She is being challenged by candidates Lisa Puccia and Ray Lisiecki for the two available seats. Incumbent Joe Russell decided not to seek re-election.

The candidates running for a seat on the Shawsheen Tech Regional School Committee had also been ivited to participate in tonight's debate. Challenger Rick O'Neill accepted the invitation. However, incumbent Patricia Meuse declined the invitation. Therefore, the Shawsheen Tech race will not be included this evening.

The Debate will be held at the Christine L. McGrath Performing Arts Center and Tewksbury Memorial High School on Monday, April 1. The School Committee Debate will begin at 7 pm and the Selectmen Debate will begin at 8:00 pm.

Bill Gilman, Senior Local Editor for Tewksbury Patch and Jayne Miller, News Editor of the Town Crier will moderate the debates. The debate is co-sponsored by Tewksbury Patch and the Tewksbury Town Crier with media partners The Lowell Sun and WCAP.
