Community Grieving Death of TMHS Senior
Tewksbury Memorial High School senior Shane Roderick passed away unexpectedly this week.
A member of the Tewksbury Memorial High School senior class will be mourned this weekend after he died unexpectedly on Monday.
Shane Roderick, 17, was the son of John and Cheryl Roderick and loving brother of Brianna and Julia Roderick and John Horan Jr., according to an obituary posted by Doherty Funeral Service.
A funeral will be held for Shane Roderick on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. The mass will take place at St. Joseph Church at 264 Washington Street in Somerville with an interment at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge.
Many young Tewksbury residents took to social media to express their sorrow in the loss of a classmate, using the Twitter hashtag #RIPShane in tweets about the late teenager.
One of those students posted a photo on Tuesday that shows the entrance to the school with "We love you, Shane! R.I.P. Never forgotten" written in chalk on the pavement.
In the online guestbook on the Doherty Funeral Service website, several friends and family members offered their condolences to the family.
"Shane was an inspiration to everyone around him and he will always be remembered in the hearts of all those that loved him," wrote one poster.
According to his obituary, Roderick was also the dear grandson of Patricia Roderick of Somerville the late Jackson Roderick and Carol Madore and nephew of James Roderick and his wife Michelle, Robert Roderick and his wife Stephanie, Wayne Madore and his wife Patricia.
