
Lu Bonanno began a “Girl Talk” group last Thursday. The group meets from 10 to 11:30 each Thursday morning to discuss the changing issues that accompanying the aging process and life itself. Why not give “Girl Talk” a try? This group is open to the public.
A very special note of thanks to all those volunteers who helped set-up and break down for the Edwards Twins show that took place this past Friday. The show was awesome; and, Anthony and Eddie will be back in the fall. Watch for details.
Sign-up for the Foxwood day trip of April 12th will take place next Monday, March 19th beginning at 8:15 AM. The trip cost is $21 per person.
The Golden Age Club has rescheduled its monthly meeting for next Tuesday, March 20th at 12:30 PM. Due to this change regular Tuesday Zingo will not be held.
The Swinging Senior Chorus have begun practice sessions for its Spring Concerts. Practices are held each Tuesday from 4 to 5 PM. All are welcome.
The Council on Aging will hold its regular monthly meeting at the Senior Center next Wednesday, March 21st at 12:30 PM
Later in the afternoon, on March 21st, Dr. Jeffrey Gorvine and other staff members from the Saints Medical Center Patient Family Advisory Council will be at the Senior Center from 1:30 to 3:30 PM to discuss the interaction of medications, their side effects, new medications, herbals and the importance of keeping a current list of one's medications. Dr. Gorvine will be available for questions; and, old medications for disposal will be taken.
Barbara Antinoro will begin instructing “oil painting” classes this Thursday, March 15th at 1:00 PM. Beginner students are welcomed and encouraged to join this class. There will be a 5 week series at $40 per person. The class will break for a week then return on April 16 to begin another 5 weeks. Those signing up for the full course will be charged $75.
The Red Hat Carnation Belles will hold a Craft & Chinese Food Night on Wednesday, March 21st. The ticket cost is $10 per Belle. If interested, please note that the last day to purchase a ticket will be March 19th.
A Giant Yard Sale will be held at the Senior Center, 175 Chandler Street, on Saturday, March 24th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, rain or shine. The public is welcomed. Other features of the day will be a yummy bake table and luncheon specials. Kay Maher welcomes and appreciates donations of “baked goods” for the bake table. Those people donating other items for the Senior Tables are asked do so on Wednesday the 21st or Thursday the 22nd.
Yuen Li is the new Senior Center SHINE Counselor. She will be at the Center on Monday's to advise people on Medicare and supplemental coverages. One may leave his/her name and telephone number at the front desk and someone will call to arrange an appointment.
DJ Jon Mansfield will be at the Senior Center on Monday, March 26th for an afternoon dance. Tickets are now available at $6 per person. Those purchasing their ticket by the 21st will have lunch included.
The first Sunday Breakfast Benefit of the year will be held at the Senior Center on April 1st from 7:30 to 11:00 AM. Ticket prices are: adults $6; children 12 and under $3; and, toddlers free. This event is open to the public and the menu features: pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, homefries, corned beef hash, beans, toast and beverages.
A reminder to the public that the Senior Center Upscale Consignment Shop and the Snooti Patooti gift shop are open Monday through Thursday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This month the gift shop is featuring a 30% discount on all Tewksbury items. Come on down and check out both shops...you're bound to find a bargain.
