FBI Says Suspects in Notorious Gardner Museum Art Heist Are Dead
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston is offering a $5 million reward for the return of 13 pieces of art stolen in 1990.

The suspects in the notorious Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum art heist are dead, theAssociated Press is reporting.
The primary focus now for the FBI and the Gardner Museum is to recover the artwork. On Thursday, the FBI released surveilllance video from the night before the heist in hopes of generating new tips.

In 1990, thieves broke into the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and stole 13 works of art. Museum walls still remind visitors of the missing art with artwork-less frames still hanging on the walls.

The thieves were never captured, and the statute of limitations for the theft has expired, according to federal law officials.
A $5 million reward has been offered by the museum for information that leads directly to the recovery of all of the stolen items in good condition. The recovery of an individual object will result in a portion of the reward, based upon the object’s market value relative to the other stolen objects.
