When Monica Johnson, Dewing School PAC member came up with the idea for a fun Halloween event, little did she know it would be a huge success.

A new Halloween trend across the country, 29 decorated trunks including the school’s Principal Terry Gerrish and teachers Ms. Higgins and Ms. Petrie, participated in the first ever Trunk or Treat at the Dewing. With hundreds of Dewing students and families coming to enjoy the fun event, the trunks didn’t disappoint. Each family was asked to think of a unique theme so their creativity was able to shine. From an “Inside Out” theme, to Spiders, Mad Scientists, The Great Pumpkin and everyone’s favorite mouse, Mickey, the families took the challenge of decorating very seriously.

Awards were given out and is now a badge of honor to carry into next year. The Kids Choice went to Mummies Graveyard by the Dunn Family, Principal’s Pick went to Candyland by the Bairos Family and the PAC Pick went to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by the Muir Family.

Organizers would like to give a special thank you to all the families who believed in the idea and participated in the trunk decorating. The trunks were truly inventive. Thank you also to all the students who came to celebrate Halloween with their classmates.
