Juvenile Injured In Tewksbury Dirt Bike Crash
First responders rescued the injured rider after the crash on a wooded trail.

TEWKSBURY, MA — A juvenile fell off his dirt bike and had to be rescued in Tewksbury on Saturday.
Dispatchers with the Northern Middlesex Regional Emergency Communications Center received a call from a juvenile at 3:30 p.m.
The caller said his friend had crashed his dirt bike somewhere along the Chandler Well Fields trail network near Judith E Drive, according to a statement. The caller believed his friend had broken his leg.

The caller was unsure of his exact location but dispatchers were able to pinpoint a likely area within the trail system with the use of 911 mapping technology.
Tewksbury police used the town's shared utility task vehicle, similar to an ATV, and responded to the emergency.

The juvenile was ultimately found and transported by firefighters for treatment.
Once first responders found the juvenile, dispatcher's contacted the juvenile's parents to inform them of the situation and guide them to the scene of the accident.
“I’m extremely proud of how our dispatchers handled this call,” Northern Middlesex Regional Emergency Communications Center Executive Director Brian O'Neill said in a statement. “Lost people on trails can be a difficult situation, and this is a great example of how their skills and use of technology helped bring a safe and successful outcome.”
